TOP THAT, TEATRO!
It’s been an extraordinary year at Teatro Live! In the 2025/26 Season- the first to be overseen by our new Artistic Director Farren Timoteo - subscription sales went up by an astonishing 30%, and single ticket sales and overall attendance are looking to be up by 48% as we prepare to open our final production of the current season. We’ve also launched exciting new initiatives like the hugely popular Teatro Drama Club for junior high and high school students, and the Farren Presents Events series of variety programming. It’s been a great leap forward in so many ways, and the exhilaration is truly palpable. We don’t want it to end!
So… bearing that in mind, we’re not going to toss our heads back and cry “Top that!” Instead, we invite you to say that to us, because as significant as our achievements of the past year have been… we think we can do more for you.
In 2024, Teatro donors supported our Join the 400 campaign in record numbers and handily decimated our lingering post-pandemic debt. This paved the way most decisively for our Life of the Party campaign, which raised even more funds and has enabled us to return to presenting larger scale productions like our season closer Cocktails at Pam’s. It’s a pretty satisfying trajectory to have been a part of, but as we’ve said, it’s really just the beginning. That’s why when drawing attention to the accomplishments of Teatro Live 2025/26 - the most successful since we launched our rebrand four years ago - we invite you to look us square in the eyes and holler “Top that, Teatro!” And if that exhortation is accompanied by a tax deductible donation in support of our future programming and the aspirational thinking that gives rise to it… so much the better!
By contributing to “Top that, Teatro!” you’ll allow us to continue our mission to employ the best local theatre artists in ever increasing numbers, to commission new works from Canadian writers, and to expand our outreach to younger theatregoers, all the while presenting our signature comedy-forward programming in deluxe productions where the breadth and depth of Farren Timoteo’s imaginative vision unlocks the full potential of the Varscona Theatre stage. It’s all we want to do. So please… insist!
For more than four decades, the generosity of our community has made it possible for Teatro Live! to create bold, joyful, and unforgettable theatre. As a registered charity and non-profit organization, ticket sales and donations make up more than 80% of our annual revenue, meaning every contribution directly supports the work on our stage and the artists behind it.
Your support helps Teatro commission and develop new Canadian work, produce contemporary comedies and modern classics, create opportunities for Edmonton artists, and continue building a vibrant home for theatrical storytelling in our city. Every donation, whether one-time or monthly, helps bring ambitious ideas to life and ensures Teatro can continue creating exceptional live theatre for years to come.

The Party is Alive! Thank you, Donors!
Our Life of the Party donation campaign has run its course, and we’re pleased to report it was a smashing success. Not only did we surpass the designated $50,000 goal for contributions in the campaign period running from March through August, we also exceeded our overall budgeted projections for the entire fiscal year by 55%. The intent of this particular fundraising endeavour was to bring back the Teatro ‘Party Shows’ - the big-cast summer spectacles which anchored our seasons for so many years - and so it is with great enthusiasm AND confidence that we’ve scheduled our signature party piece Cocktails at Pam’s for a 40th anniversary run in July of 2026. Eleven actors onstage! We’re so grateful to the generosity of all our donors, subscribers, and patrons for stepping up yet again and ensuring a bright future for all at Teatro Live! See you at Pam’s!
Our Join the 400 Campaign Update

The Teatro 400! YES WE DID!
As all who follow Teatro Live are likely aware, this season saw the launch of our unique fundraising initiative inviting folks to “Join the Teatro 400”. The goal was to pay off the $40,000 federally administered CEBA loan which helped us to cover basic operational and staffing expenses during the shutdown of 2020/21, and the thinking behind this campaign was that if just 400 individuals donated $100 each, we’d kick this debt to the curb in no time flat. Well we’re pleased to report that WE DID IT! And what’s more YOU DID IT! We reached our goal on June 9, and what’s more, over the course of the following week we raised a further $1200 to cover the additional 3% in administrative fees that Canada Helps charges for the wonderful service they provide to non-profits like Teatro. AND in addition to the online total, we’ve received an additional $3400 through various other platforms- cheque, cash, debit - for a grand total of $46,006.76.
Now, we promised that there’d be A PARTY FOR THE 400! once we achieved our goal and we want you to know that we’re on it. It won’t likely be until some point in the upcoming season because we need time to make sure it’s just that good and that everyone can make it. But please stand by for more information. We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed so generously and enthusiastically to this initiative. Raising that five figure sum may have been our stated primary goal, but the real benefit is that unencumbered by debt, we can now get back to the business of seizing new opportunities, creating new structures, and revving up the riot of fun that is Teatro Live! WELL DONE, EVERYBODY!
