It’s Time to Strive with Teatro Live!

At Teatro Live, a devotion to creative problem solving and a love of finding unexpected solutions have always been the guideposts by which we navigate the white waters of artistic enterprise. How appropriate then that our 2024/25 season should celebrate these very things with stories that involve bold choices, gleeful determination, and imaginative risk-taking. Collaboration is also key, whether it’s people coming together to solve a lingering mystery, thwart an otherworldly foe, elevate the latent abilities of strangers, or reinvent the very notion of domestic partnership. There’s hard work involved, but at the end of the day it’s still just one big RIOT OF FUN and we can’t wait for you to join us!

Teatro gleefully joins the fun of Halloween Season with this terrifying and amusing horror thriller which only recently ended a 34-year run in London’s West End. In Edwardian England, a young actor helps a lawyer make sense of a long ago encounter with a mysterious apparition who invariably leaves death in her wake. "A real theatrical spine chiller...A truly nerve shredding experience." says The Daily Mail. “It is profoundly effective and will scare the living daylights out of you!” says The Daily Express. Directed by Andrew Ritchie.

Another encounter with an otherworldly woman, this time in broad daylight! Rooted in Hungarian folklore, Stewart Lemoine’s fantastical comedy returns for its first revival in thirty years. A cast of sparkling newcomers inhabit this tale of 1920s Budapest lads who find themselves in the thrall of a snack-wielding temptress who only appears at the apex of the day. It’s a spirited jaunt from an elegant city park to the mysterious thermal springs of Transdanubia.

One of Lemoine’s zippiest screwball comedies returns in its first revival since 2010. In this uniquely bucolic escapade, an affably inept federal talent agent and a plucky temp embark on a hare-brained talent quest in rural Wisconsin in 1951. Their madcap project involves bird-watching, pie, the music of Mahler, a pair of embattled star-crossed lovers, and the abruptest civic election in history, all at the curiously appointed Nut River Lodge. “I found the cheese room!”

Returning to the Varscona stage after two decades, Neil Simon’s classic comedy of mismatched roommates brings the season to a riotous close. When fastidiously domestic Felix exits his marriage with no new home in sight, he finds himself rooming with the irascible Oscar, a divorced dad with a pronounced attachment to slovenliness. Their battles escalate in intensity and hilarity as the two men attempt to create a new kind of co-habitation in the heat of the New York summer. Andrew MacDonald-Smith is Felix, Alexander Ariate is Oscar, and Belinda Cornish directs.
